When I was little, I used to write books on an electric typewriter. After that, I started many novels on an old, old desktop in my room.
I've come a long way from that.
Originally from Cary, N.C., I went to school at UNC Chapel Hill and graduated from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication in 2009. I was a member of the Marching Tar Heels and am still an avid Carolina sports fan.
I started working at the Charlotte Observer soon after graduation, covering high school sports and managing the websites and social media accounts for a new set of community weekly papers in the Lake Norman and Cabarrus County areas. In April 2010 I moved to start two new Observer community papers in south Charlotte, the area I continue to cover and now live with my dog, Gracie.
Last year, I tricked this beautiful girl named Courtney into marrying me. Unless she comes to her senses in the next few months, we will be married in June.
My job is sports writing but my interests are much more than that, as you see on this blog. I write about the journalism industry, music, losing weight and current events. And sports. I just can't help it.
I'm active on Twitter (@CoreyInscoe) and if you're particularly interested in south Charlotte high school sports, you can like my Facebook page. I also have a Google+ account and am still trying to find my way around that medium.
